As we all know, Android was thought since its early beginning as a protean and versatile system. This doesn’t mean other systems (namely, iOS) aren’t such malleable and adaptive (hey, that’s what synonym dictionaries are for!), but Android does have a name in it. In a not so far future we might see Android toasters, Android ovens, Android fridges, Android cars and Android-you-name-it everywhere, every one of this single pieces talking and communicating with each other. In the meanwhile, Almighty Google has pushed its Google TV a little bit further and renamed it Android TV. Yes, you’ve read it right: smart TVs are cool, but future’s going to be green.
Unless Apple TV takes off higher. Everything points to Google and Apple bringing their scuffle into the shifting sands of TV software, and even though TVs aren’t what they were regarding prices and importance within our daily lives -indeed average TVs are cheaper than average phones- we are talking about millions of dedicated TV so-called “users”. By the way, if people start to get used to “watch the Internet” on their TVs (keep an eye on this), this may hasten home PCs retirement and even the extinction of those many old broadcast media groups unable to pull their viewers out of Youtube
Sony and LG are already promoting their TVs as gadgets with “Google services” in. You don’t have to be a genius to foresee that all this ads will change to “Android powered TV” as soon as Android 4.4 is launched and Android becomes, this time for true, a global brand recognized all over Earth and elsewhere..
Now the question is: will Google and Apple adopt the same tactics on their TV products? Or will there be a change of scenario, one where these companies merge and sway with each other?
LET’S WELCOME ANDROID TV
