Want a Free Chromecast? It Could Be As Easy As Using Android Pay

Google's giving away free Chromecasts to anyone who uses its pay-with-your-phone technology.

Google's Chromecast streaming devices are already as steal at just $35, but it looks like you might be able to get one for free soon. According to promotional material that's showing up for some users, Google's revving up to give out free Chromecasts to anyone who uses its "Android Pay" service.

Similar to Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, and another of other services that allow you to pay for purchases at a traditional cash register by tapping your phone on something instead of fishing out your wallet. But it looks like Google might need a little help getting people to use its solution.

According to people who have had it show up in their Android Pay apps, the new "Tap 10" promotion lets you get all sorts of free stuff for just using Android Pay. On taps 1, 2, and 6 you get free songs from Google Play. On number 10, boom Chromecast.

The US-only promo runs through February 29th 2016, and if you're game to give it a shot just make sure you have Android Pay installed on your (Android) phone, connect a compatible debit or credit card, and check back to see if you have the promotion. And so long as you don't go out and buy 10 things you don't need, it's a pretty good deal.
